Fresh install - "Cannot connect to Authorization Server"

Any direction to troubleshoot this problem would be nice
I don't know if the server wants my user name or my eMail address as the login. I've tried both with the same result.

try restarting your router and pc, also your login id is username, not email

with the activation server.
